Obituary for Cliff Monroe Harmon
Cliff M. Harmon was born on March 19, 1922 in Anthony’s Mill, Missouri, a son to the late Roy Harmon and the late Ella Sue Harper. On January 27, 1942, Cliff was united in marriage to Kathleen Brakefield and they shared seventy-five years of marriage together and three children were born unto this union.
On March 6, 2017, Cliff entered eternal rest at the Phelps County Regional Medical Center, Rolla, Missouri having reached the age of ninety-four years, eleven months, and six days.
Cliff will be missed by all who knew and loved him including his beloved wife, Kathleen Harmon of the home; daughter, Ella Jo Bishop and husband David of Potosi; son, Chris Harmon and wife Judith of Potosi; grandchildren: Tracy Brawley and husband Tommy of Potosi and Thomas Bishop and wife Megan of Bunker; great-grandchildren: Joseph, Wyatt, Emma, and Madison; brothers, Jimmie Harmon and wife Judith of Imperial and Leroy Harmon and wife Brenda of Lake Station, Indiana; sister, Mildred (Harmon) Esley of Hillsboro; and one brother-in-law, Jack Breakfield and wife Carol of Potosi; also surviving are many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
In addition to his parents, Cliff is preceded in death by his infant son, Tommy Harmon; sisters: Lee Harmon, Opal Eye, and Virginia Wood; brothers, Leo Harmon, Virgil Harmon, Clyde Harmon, and Kelly Harmon.
Cliff accepted Jesus as his Savior at an early age and lived life according to his commitment, always playing his guitar and singing in church until his health began to fail. Another soldier of the cross!
He spent the greater part of his adult life living and working on the family farm and driving a school bus for the Valley R-6 School District. He always enjoyed hunting and fishing and living the good country life, living in such a way as to keep Heaven as his goal. Cliff will be extremely missed by his family and many friends, but our loss is Heaven’s gain.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, March 8, 2017 at the DeClue Funeral Home from 4:30 pm until 8:00 pm and on Thursday, March 9, 2017, beginning at 9:00 am.
A funeral service was held at 11:00 am on Thursday, held in the DeClue Memorial Chapel, with Rev. John Slade officiating assisted by Rev. Robert E. Hudson. Musical selections were provided by John & Doris Hartley, Charles Harper and David Bishop.
Honoring Cliff by serving as his pallbearers will be Thomas Bishop, David Bishop, Tommy Brawley, Stanley Eye, Jerry Richards, and Gary Couch. Honorary pallbearers; Wyatt Bishop and Joseph Bishop.
Interment and final prayers will be held at the Antioch Cemetery. All funeral arrangements have been cared for by the DeClue Funeral Home.
