Obituary for William "Bill" Roy Nelson

William "Bill" Roy  Nelson
William Roy Nelson also know by family and friends as Bill was born on October 4, 1927 in Potosi, Missouri, a son to the late James Christopher Nelson and the late Elfreda (Strauser) Nelson. Bill was united in marriage to Clara Corine Heugel on December 8, 1963 and they shared fifty-two years together.

Bill entered eternal rest peacefully on Thursday, July 6, 2017 at the Washington County Memorial Hospital having reached the age of eighty-nine years, nine months and two days.

Bill will be missed by all who loved and knew him including his daughter, Carol Reed and husband Bob of Potosi; four step children: Donnie Tyger and wife Margurite of West Plains, MO., Linda Lord of Winefield, MO., Larry Tyger of Memphis, TN., Georgia Keck of West Memphis, AR.; four grandchildren: Michelle Reed, Robbie Reed, Willie Skaggs and wife Shannon all of Potosi and Cody Patrick and wife Brittany of Springfield, MO.; also surviving are great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his beloved wife Corine Nelson; daughter, Antoinette “Toni” Patrick; two step sons: Alvin Gene Tyger and Randy Lee Tyger; two brothers: Wallace and Wayne Nelson and two sisters: Ruby Yarbrough and Velma Stroup.

Bill proudly served his country in the United States Army and was a WWII Veteran. He will receive full military honors consisting of flag folding and presentation, gun salute and TAPS presented by the United States Army and Local VFW Post 6996.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, July 8, 2017 from 10:30 a.m. until the Funeral Service at 2 p.m. held at the DeClue Funeral Home. Elder Leonard Compton will officiate.

Interment and final prayers will be held at the Redbud Memorial Gardens beside his wife and daughter. DeClue Funeral Home was privileged to care for the funeral services for Bill during this time of remembrance.
