Obituary for Verna May Welker (Miner)

Verna  May  Welker (Miner)
Verna May Welker of Steelville, Missouri, was born on March 16, 1934 in Mineral Point, Missouri a daughter of the late Virgil Hadley Miner and the late Lydia May (Mason) Miner. On March 15, 1953, Verna was united in marriage to Carl Lee Welker at Grassy Hollow Baptist Church.

Verna went to be with the Lord on Friday, August 10, 2018 at the age of eighty-four.

Survivors include her beloved husband of sixty-five years, Carl Welker; four children: Carla (Danny) Madden, Richard (Susan) Welker, Vicki Welker, and Susan (Johnny) Schorr; five grandchildren: Jeremy (Maria) Welker, Jason (Amy) Welker, Katherine (David) Pitrucha, Elizabeth (Erick) Wildgen, and Lauren (Jim) Bauer; six great-grandchildren: Cameron, Landon, Viviani, Sophia, Grace Welker, and Finn Wildgen; six siblings: Wilma Arkulari, Clarence (Linda) Miner, Julia (Ken) Merseal, Cora (Bernard) Boyer, Leonard (Margie) Miner, and Brenda (Gary) Eaves; also surviving are nieces, nephews, cousins, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

In addition to her father and mother, Verna was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Elizabeth May Welker (stillborn); brother and sister-in-law, Carl (Carol) Miner; brother-in-law, George Arkulari; and nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Monday, August, 13, 2018 from 5-8 p.m. and Tuesday, August, 14, from 9-11 a.m. at the DeClue Funeral Home.

A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, August 14, 2018 at 11 a.m. at the DeClue Memorial Chapel. Verna’s grandson, Rev. Jason Welker will officiate.

Interment and final prayers will be held at Courtois Baptist Church Cemetery, Berryman, Missouri. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the care and direction of the DeClue Funeral Home.
